Sauk Prairie Healthcare is proud to announce the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) ranked Sauk Prairie Hospital five-stars in patient experience. This is the first year CMS has used the five-star criteria in its online Hospital Compare service.
CMS awarded five-star ratings to only 251 of the 3,553 eligible hospitals, which is about 7% of the nation’s hospitals.
The ratings are based on 11 components of patient experience in the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) survey. Some of those measurements include pain management, how well hospital staff communicates with a patient and whether a patient experiences a clean and quiet hospital setting. High HCAHPS scores are directly tied to Medicare reimbursements.
“We strive to provide the best care to every patient every day,” said Larry Schroeder, Sauk Prairie Healthcare CEO. “The recognition reflects the exceptional experience our patients receive from all of our staff and volunteers.”
Sauk Prairie Healthcare is one of only 25 hospitals in Wisconsin to receive the five-star ranking. “The new ranking empowers patients with an understanding of the quality of care a hospital delivers,” added Schroeder. “Every patient deserves to know what kind of care they will receive when choosing a hospital.”
