Sauk Prairie Healthcare is pleased to welcome Parker Hoerz, MD to Wisconsin Heights Clinic.
“I am beyond excited to have Dr. Hoerz join our team. He brings a broad knowledge base coupled with a caring and compassionate demeanor that our patients will truly appreciate,” said Dr. Janelle Hupp, Family Medicine physician. “He is an excellent fit for the culture that we strive for here at Wisconsin Heights Clinic and throughout Sauk Prairie Healthcare. I can’t wait for Black Earth, Mazomanie, and our surrounding communities to meet him.”
Dr. Hoerz is a Family Medicine physician who cares for patients of all ages, including children and families. He is fluent in Spanish and his areas of interest include office-based procedures, prevention and wellness, substance use disorders, osteopathic medicine, and integrative health.
“Integrative health is about caring for the whole person, including their mental, emotional, and spiritual health, and considering how external factors impact health, like the environment, relationships, nutrition, and physical movement,” he explained.
“When I meet with a patient, I want to learn what’s most important to them in terms of their health – what they’re most concerned about and what they want to focus on – but also what their priorities are in life, what brings them meaning and what they want their health for – the bigger picture thing we’re working toward,” said Dr. Hoerz. “That helps inform the decision making and how we prioritize care, and also serves as a source of motivation for the patient.”
Originally from Wauwatosa, Dr. Hoerz earned his bachelor’s degree in biomedical engineering from Marquette University in Milwaukee. While in college, he started volunteering at a nearby clinic.
“That volunteer experience drew me to medicine – the direct patient care part of it and advocacy work, but especially the interactions I saw the providers having with patients,” he explained. “To me, it felt like more than a job, but a way to use my interests and passions to really help meet the needs of the community.”
Dr. Hoerz went on to medical school at the University of Wisconsin – Madison School of Medicine & Public Health and completed his Family Medicine Residency. There he also chose to do a fellowship in Integrative Health, which gave him the opportunity to develop a sub-specialty in musculoskeletal health, including ultrasound-guided joint injections and osteopathic manipulative treatments.
Dr. Hoerz will begin seeing patients in January 2025. To schedule an appointment with him, call Wisconsin Heights Clinic at 608-795-4110.
