Dr. Raquel Abengozar Joins Surgical Associates

Sauk Prairie Healthcare is pleased to welcome Raquel Abengozar, MD to Surgical Associates.

Dr. Abengozar will have a broad-based general surgery practice and will perform laparoscopic and minimally invasive surgeries, colonoscopy, breast cancer surgery, colon and bowel surgery, hernia repair, and other surgeries to treat conditions like gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), hemorrhoids and other anal conditions, and biliary disease.

“Dr. Abengozar is a very kind, energetic person that’s going to fit in really well with our practice and the community,” said Dr. H. Clay Dean, General Surgeon at Sauk Prairie Healthcare. “We’re excited about growing our general surgery program and adding a third surgeon will help provide top notch care to the community, including having more appointments available for screening colonoscopies.”

Originally from Madrid, Spain, Dr. Abengozar earned her medical degree from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid and completed her General Surgery residency at Marshfield Clinic Health System in Marshfield, Wis. She enjoys spending free time with her husband and young daughter, hiking, and exploring new restaurants.

“I’m excited to get to know my patients and to be part of the community,” explains Dr. Abengozar. “When I came to Sauk Prairie Healthcare, I noticed it was very tailored towards the patient experience. They really care if your experience here is good, you’re not treated like just one more patient. I think at the end of the day that really translates into more personalized care for patients closer to home.”
