Sauk Prairie Healthcare is pleased to welcome Eric Jones, DO to River Valley Clinic.
“We’re thrilled to be able to offer more access to great primary care with the addition of Dr. Jones,” said Dr. Mark Timmerman, Family and Sports Medicine physician at River Valley Clinic. “He’s committed to rural healthcare and understands what the demands and rewards are of working in a small community. He’s genuine and warm – I think patients will really like him.”
Dr. Jones is a Family Medicine physician and is able to care for patients of all ages. He prioritizes caring for the whole patient, not just symptoms, and considers how social factors like mental health or family dynamics impact a patient’s overall health.
“My biggest priority is being open and respectful with patients and trying to create an environment where they feel they’re able to ask questions regardless of how small an issue might seem,” explained Dr. Jones. “It’s important to me to come up with a plan that the patient is comfortable with, that respects their priorities, and that they feel heard and that they have a sense of ownership with their health.”
Born in Canada, Dr. Jones moved to the Midwest in his early years. He earned his bachelor’s degree in biology from Iowa State University, went to medical school at Des Moines University and completed his family medicine residency at the University of Iowa – Central Iowa Hospital System. In his free time, Dr. Jones enjoys scuba diving, playing video games, reading, and working out at the gym.
From a young age, Dr. Jones knew he wanted to become a doctor. He considered many different specialties in medical school before choosing Family Medicine. “One of the big things that drew me to Family Medicine is being able to build relationships with people, getting to know them and their families,” he said. “I’m excited to go to work; I enjoy the variety, getting to see people and be part of their life.”
Dr. Jones will begin seeing patients in October. To schedule an appointment with him, call River Valley Clinic at 608-588-2502.
