Pediatrician Dr. Kia Nelson Joins Wisconsin Heights Clinic

Sauk Prairie Healthcare is pleased to announce that Pediatrician Kia Nelson, MD will join the Wisconsin Heights Clinic this October.

“We’re thrilled to have Dr. Nelson join our team. She’s an exceptional doctor and an incredibly caring and compassionate individual,” said Dr. Andrea Chao, Pediatrician at Sauk Prairie Healthcare’s Lodi Clinic. “Her pediatric expertise means we will be able to offer more access to care for children with complex health issues like pediatric cardiac conditions, depression and anxiety, autism, and ADHD.”

Originally from the Sauk Prairie area, Dr. Nelson earned her medical degree from the University of Wisconsin – Madison and completed a residency in Pediatrics at the University of Wisconsin Hospitals & Clinics in Madison. Her areas of interest include Pediatric care from newborn to adolescence, chronic condition management, and mindfulness.

As a mother of two young children, Dr. Nelson understands how difficult it can be when a child is sick or facing challenges. She strives to create a space where patients and families feel comfortable asking questions and discussing their health concerns.

“Navigating the healthcare system can be tough, especially for adolescents and young adults who may be doing this for their own healthcare for the first time, or for new parents who are doing this for a child for the first time,” she states. “Parenting in general is really tough so I expect my patients to have a lot of questions, to have a lot of concerns, and it’s always my goal to be able to make them feel that they have that space and time so they can feel comfortable expressing all those questions.”

Dr. Nelson looks forward to getting to know her patients and learning what they value in their care. She knows providers can have a large impact on families and wants to support patients as they navigate the transition from childhood to adulthood. “For me it’s really important that my families feel heard and that my patients and their caregivers really understand their health and care when they leave my office,” she explains.
